Mainzer Frühstück - #166

Well, this - with an espresso macchiato from the Tin Shed on Wheels - makes a welcome change from the usual müsli with fresh fruit and a big mug of black tea.

But only on Saturdays.

Yes, a change of pace is good. Like the look of the roll.

So glad the coffee is from PNG.

My only suggestion would be a big dob of vegemite on that "sausage" would make it perfect!!!

I was going to ask where's the mustard, but then I clicked on the photo & saw it plain as day. Does the mainzer sausage have a special name?

I'm always surprised when I visit friends in Germany - at breakfast time. Sausages, and cheese and slices of cucumber. All good things but strange for me at breakfast.

@ R&R in The Netherlands

Fleischwurst - pronounced "Fleischworscht".
The best is from Harth's butchery in Stadecken-Elsheim. Luckily, they drive their mobile butchery to the market 3 times a week.

That looks like pretty hearty fare! Glad it's only on Saturday or you might gain a mite.

Yummy! Sausage and bread was my favorite breakfast when I lived in Germany (except for Nutella on toast). That's making me hungry!

Ah, yes, I remember frushtuck. I'd rather have Muesli, though.:)

I was thinking that I don't like to eat meat in the morning so much, but we Americans eat bacon and sausage at breakfast, so this is not so far from our breakfast.

That's EXACTLY what I thought a German breakfast would look like!

I am sure you have to put the sausage inside the bread, right?

Z said...

Whoa, that's a large chunk of sausage! The bread looks woefully small next to it :-). I'd join you for the espresso..
